At UFG, our mission is clear: “We have one customer, our franchisee. When they are successful, we are successful.”
One of the most powerful ways we support our mission is by creating opportunities for our team members to grow, learn, and develop. Because when our people grow, they bring new skills, fresh ideas, and greater confidence to the work they do for our franchisees.
Mentorship that Moves Us Forward
The UFG Mentor Program connects team members with experienced colleagues who offer insight, guidance, and support. These topic-based relationships open doors to new perspectives and create space for learning, collaboration, and personal development across the company.
The program was first inspired by J.J. Prendamano, father-in-law of UFG’s CEO, Ray Titus. J.J. was a passionate advocate for lifelong learning and personal growth, and his influence helped shape UFG into the people-focused, development-driven company it is today. His legacy lives on through the Mentor Program, which continues to strengthen our culture by passing knowledge, skills, and encouragement from one generation of employees to the next.
As one employee shared:
“Having a mentor helped me clear out thoughts that were holding me back. I believe everyone here should have one, no matter how long they’ve been at UFG.”

Whether you’re just starting out or have been here for years, a mentor can help you refine your skills, expand your knowledge, and approach challenges with fresh ideas. It’s not just about solving today’s problems—it’s about preparing for tomorrow’s opportunities.
Learning is Part of Our DNA
Through programs like our Mentor Program, Dream Coach Program, and ongoing training opportunities, we make sure our team members have the tools they need to succeed.
In 2023, we welcomed Mary Jo Kurtz, our Dream Coach and Director of Employee Development, to the UFG family. As a holistic life coach, Mary Jo works one-on-one with employees to help them grow both personally and professionally. Whether it’s navigating a career decision, building healthier habits, or finding balance between work and life, her guidance complements the Mentor Program by supporting the “whole person” behind the role.

Together, mentorship and coaching create a well-rounded culture of employee development at UFG—helping our people not only sharpen skills for today but also build the confidence and clarity to thrive long-term.
