Phoenix-based Banner Health has opened the newly built Banner Health Center Raintree at 8901 E. Raintree Drive in Scottsdale.
The 12,000-square-foot facility is home to 10 providers specializing in internal medicine, family medicine, geriatrics, behavioral health and general pediatrics. In the future, additional specialists will rotate through the facility to provide patients with convenient access to care.
This is Banner’s first primary care center to open in Scottsdale, a spokesperson from the health network said. It complements other Banner specialty locations in the city including Banner Sports Medicine Scottsdale, Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, Banner Physical Therapy locations, Banner Urgent Care locations, Banner Imaging locations and an orthopedic specialty physician practice.
The spokesperson said Banner also has plans for another Banner Health Center on Pinnacle Peak and Miller Road to serve Scottsdale residents.
Banner Health is Arizona’s largest employer, as well as the largest nonprofit and largest health system. It has more than 100 health center or clinic locations in the Phoenix metro and has $1 billion in construction projects planned in Arizona.
• Wisconsin-based Gorman & Co. broke ground on Villas on McQueen in Chandler.
The 157-unit project is Chandler’s first public housing project converted through the HUD’s Rental Assistance Demonstration, or RAD, program.
But it’s not the first RAD program for Gorman, which has closed 18 projects using RAD totaling nearly 2,100 units in six states.
With a total development cost of $58.3 million, Villas on McQueen is expected to open in 2026 at 77 N. McQueen Road.
Chandler City Council unanimously approved Villas on McQueen.
“We are one step closer to modernizing our aging housing facilities and providing much-needed housing options for families and seniors in Chandler,” Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke said in a statement.
Providing low and moderate income renters with environmentally and economically sustainable housing options, the project is expected to become a cornerstone of Chandler’s master redevelopment plan, showcasing a model for future public housing projects and setting a new standard for community-centric development, company officials said.
• Scottsdale-based Greenlight Communities is wrapping up construction on two Phoenix apartment communities totaling 500 units.
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of July for Streamliner 16, which followed the completion of Streamliner 67 last month.
Streamliner 16, located at 1616 E. Polk St., includes 208 units, while Streamliner 67 at 6755 W. McDowell Road totals 292 units.
Bryten Real Estate Partners has been selected as the property management company for both properties, with move-ins expected to begin in July and August.
Monthly rental rates for Streamliner 16 are between $1,099 and $1,149, while Streamliner 67 rates are between $999 and $1,349.
Amenities include a pool, fitness center, co-working space with Wi-Fi, indoor secured bike storage, community laundry facilities and a multi-purpose event lawn.
• USA Pickleball, the national governing body of the sport of pickleball that’s headquartered in the Valley, has leased new warehouse space in Tempe near McClintock and University drives.
The organization has leased is 1,440 square feet which is expected to aid in supporting storage space due to the growth of USAP’s events, memberships and partnerships, according to Meredith Painter, USA Pickleball’s senior director of communications and marketing.
As USAP has added to the number of events it puts on, as well as grown its membership and added a charitable arm to the organization – USA Pickleball Serves – it needed more storage and warehouse space, Painter said.
USAP was represented by NAI Horizon’s Whitney Heritage in the lease negotiations and Cory Breinholt with Commercial Property Inc. represented the landlord, Fifth Street Commerce Center LLC.
• Graze Craze has opened its second Arizona specialty charcuterie store in northeast Phoenix, bringing its grazing boards and boxes to the Campbell@16 shopping center at 4515 N. 16th St.
The store is owned and operated by franchisees Chris Garrity and Chris Ashby, who opened the state’s first Graze Craze in Tempe last year.
The store’s charcuterie arrangements include fresh fruits and vegetables, premium meats and cheeses, artisanal sweets, nuts, house-made jams and more.
“We’re proud to continue expanding local access to Graze Craze, which takes graze-style dining to the next level with fresh, high-quality ingredients expertly paired to entice the appetite,” Garrity said in a statement. “Graze Craze lets us share our passion for great food in a way that’s both creative and convenient.”
Graze Craze Northeast Phoenix is open for pick-up, catering and local delivery Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• A new Valley location of Sole Sports — a specialty store dedicated to walking and running — has opened at Verde at Cooley Station, a mixed use shopping center in Gilbert.
The store, located at 2494 S. Recker Rd., Suite 101, adds to other Valley locations of the brand in Phoenix, Tempe and Scottsdale. The store offers a wide selection of running and walking footwear and other gear. It also offers weekly training runs, supports local running clubs and youth programs, sponsors local races and donates money into the local community, according to a news release.
The store is co-owned by Lance Muzslay and Karen McDonnell, both of whom have years of experience in retailing.
“We are so pleased to announce another Sole Sports opening in the Valley,” McDonnell said in a statement. “We love our customers and have a passion for getting the community together to run and socialize. We hope to continue to motivate people to get outside, whether that’s running, hiking or walking.”
Verde at Cooley Station was developed by SB2-VB LLC, which is an entity led by partners Norm Brody and Jerry Slusky. The partners started construction on the 23-acre mixed-use center in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. The $60 million, 135,000-square-foot project has opened a number of Valley-based retail stores.
