Dr. John P Hayes Appointed Chair for Titus Center for Franchising

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. – Palm Beach Atlantic University President William M.B. Fleming, Jr. has appointed Dr. John P. Hayes, a veteran franchise practitioner and educator, as the Titus Chair for Franchise Leadership and director of the new Titus Center for Franchising effective August 2017.

“Given his extensive academic and industry experience, John Hayes is the consummate leader for this one-of-kind program for business students, the Titus Center, which is focused on free enterprise, the entrepreneurial spirit and job creation,” said President Fleming. “We believe that the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired by our students through the teaching of franchising principles and our partnership with United Franchise Group will have a local focus and a global impact as it attracts students from around the world who wish to benefit from hands on franchising experience.”

Beginning in fall 2017, the Titus Center for Franchising, endowed by a gift from UFG CEO Ray Titus, will offer academic coursework in the Rinker School of Business to cover all aspects of franchising, an internship program and opportunities for job shadowing and training at United Franchise Group. The center also will provide professional education in franchising.

As director of the center, and a professor in the Rinker School of Business, Hayes will be responsible for the development and implementation of the franchise curriculum. He also will develop programs to serve individuals who are interested in becoming franchisees, franchisors or working for a franchise company.

Hayes was introduced to the franchise community in 1979 while serving as an assistant professor at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After he was asked to provide marketing and public relations services for a local franchisor, he co-authored Franchising: The Inside Story, the first book written about how to buy a franchise.

Since then, Hayes has been a franchisee of several concepts, a franchisor of a major American franchise company, and a consultant for franchisors in the U.S. and abroad. For more than 25 years he has taught The A to Zs of Buying a Franchise, the most popular symposium at the International Franchise Expo, sponsored by the International Franchise Association. Each year he speaks and trains at numerous franchise events across the globe.

Hayes has written several books with franchisors, including You Can’t Teach A Kid To Ride A Bike At A Seminar with David Sandler, founder of Sandler Sales System, and Start Small, Finish Big: Fifteen Key Lessons to Start — and Run — Your Own Successful Business, with Fred DeLuca, the co-founder of Subway Restaurants. He is the author of several e-books devoted to franchising, including Take the Fear Out of Franchising, Buy “Hot” Franchises Without Getting Burned and 101 Questions To Ask Before You Invest in a Franchise.

He has served on numerous franchise corporate boards including The Dwyer Group in Waco, Texas, and HomeVestors of America, Inc. in Dallas, Texas.

Hayes earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism at Kent State University in Ohio, and a doctorate in American Studies at Temple University in Pennsylvania.

EmbroidMe is Now Fully Promoted

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Jan. 9, 2017— Franchise industry giant United Franchise Group has announced a name changer that is a game changer! EmbroidMe, the franchise leader in the promotional products industry, will widely expand its services and become known as Fully Promoted.

This news was announced to the 220 franchisees at the company’s annual convention currently underway in Las Vegas.  The company decided on the name change after a significant evaluation of the changing needs of their current EmbroidMe customers around the world. It will allow for an expanded set of services that will include branded products and marketing services.

“This has been extremely well thought out,” said Joe Loch, brought aboard last year as the new brand president, “we combined the expertise of our experienced brand experts at United Franchise Group with that of an outside agency and worked with our franchisees who are instrumental as the brand’s representatives in the field.  They were acutely aware that their clients wanted a much broader range of services, some of which were already offered. But with the current name, most customers didn’t realize we were so much more than embroidered products.”

Adding to existing services that provide customized apparel and merchandise will now be online marketing services, lead generation services, and complete campaign management for a variety of printed marketing materials.  This expansion will allow for a complete customer experience that provides new customers and then a variety of tactics to reach those customers.

“We expect great things and are excited for the future of this newly innovated brand,” said CEO of United Franchise Group and founder, Ray Titus.  “It’s one of the things I feel we do best here. We evolve our brands and stay relevant to the needs of our customers.”
